Congratulations

On Saturday October 8th Dana Harrold will be inducted into the University of Dubuque Hall of Fame. Dana was one of the best athletes to attend Jesup High School, and set many records in basketball as she played here at Jesup. She went on to a stellar career at UD, and was also offered a contract to play professionally in Europe. Presently she is on the Health and wellness Faculty at the University of Dubuque. Read below what the Alumni section on the University of Dubuque website says about her. Congratulations Dana.

The Cavalry

I am trying to make a deal for a new car and it is a  nightmare. I wish it was the day back in 1975 when my dad took me to the Chevrolet dealer in Cresco, and offered his friend Willie Aulden zero down and $100.00 dollars a month for two months for a 65 Chevrolet Impala. I loved that old car, much like Chris Knight does in his song "My Old Cars".

Click Play and go back to the 1970's with me.

Dirt

Growing up my dad use to say to me "they are closing in on us." I never understood what he meant. Chris Knights song "Dirt" helps me understand now. Click Play and you will understand as well.

The Guernsey Peace Talks

I am lucky to have readers from around the world, and I would like to thank all of them. Yet outside of the United States my biggest contingent of readers live in Guernsey, the Island of Guernsey is located in the English Channel, roughly 30 miles from the French coast and some 70 miles from the south coast of England. The Island has an area of approximately 24 square miles and a population of 62,000.

Why I have such a large following there I have no idea, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank them, and like to ask them to reach out to me by contacting me by making a comment on my blog.

As for now, I am starting to make plans to visit Guernsey next time I visit the British Isles.

The Dishonorable Discharge

In our culture the powers that be do not always respect different. They would rather have "normal"than  to have someone or something different. System coaches are viewed like this by outsiders. Yet to those outsiders defense we all question what we do not understand.

I would like to share with you the story of perhaps the greatest golfer of all time yet no one knows about him because he was different. People did not respect him until the end of his life when Titleist gave him $5000.00 a month just for being himself. I would like to introduce you to Moe Norman . Click on his name to learn about this incredible man. This video was made by Drambuie.
