Automatic Weapon

A three pointer make by nineteen different players from the same team in one game. Incredible but true, as Grinnell college set that record as they defeated Faith Baptist last year 137-104. Here is the video of all nineteen players knocking down a three. I found it on the Grinnell Men's Basketball web page. It is also available on YouTube. Click under the picture to watch.

What's Difficult

I spent most of the weekend with Tom Waits and Guy Clark at the Chili Parlor. The question was asked of Waits "What is difficult for you?" He was in rare form with his reply;

"Mostly I straddle reality and the imagination. My reality needs imagination like a bulb needs a socket. My imagination needs reality like a blind man needs a cane. Math is hard. Reading a map. Following orders. Carpentry. Electronics. Plumbing. Remembering things correctly. Straight lines. Sheet rock. Finding a safety pin. Patience with others. Ordering in Chinese. Stereo instructions in German.”

The man is a treasure.

Marriage

“I never married because there was no need. I have three pets at home which answer the same purpose as a husband. I have a dog which growls every morning, a parrot which swears all afternoon and a cat that comes home late at night.”

The House I Was Raised In

On Saturday a number of cousins and I made a trip to northern Iowa to the start of our ancestry in Iowa. While I was there I shot this shot of the house I was raised in. I will share more about that ancestry in a post to come later.

My Friends

"The Bohemian is not a follower of the virtues espoused by bourgeois society: routine, temperance, convention, mediocrity, materialism, and respectability. Bohemians despise authority, the status quo and, because they are often broke, capitalism and consumerism."

Recover

"There are five things that you cannot recover in life:

(1) The Stone..........after it's thrown

(2) The Word............after it's said,

(3) The Occasion......after it's missed, and

(4) The Time..............after it's gone.

(5) A person.............after they die "
